San Cristóbal de la Habana was the original name given to Havana at its founding in 1519.

It honored both Christopher Columbus (San Cristóbal in Spanish) and the name "La Habana", which was what the indigenous people called the area.

The San Cristóbal de la Habana brand was launched in 1999, at the dawn of the new millennium, as a tribute to the long and rich history of the Cuban capital.

All of the brand’s vitolas are handmade with long filler (Totalmente a Mano, Tripa Larga).
